Marketplace Pulse
Merchant-side, read sideways for demand signal
Marketplace data journalism, cited by the WSJ, NYT and Bloomberg.
Every one to two weeks, usually ThursdaysFreeMarketplace PulseOwn site
Built on its own data, not commentary: its own parsing of sellers, products and categories across Amazon, TikTok Shop, Walmart and eBay. It publishes every week or two, as short data-led articles and longer research reports. Recent pieces cover 150,000 US TikTok Shop sellers and 4.5 million products. Others cover Amazon opening Seller Central to rival marketplaces including Shopify, and US ecommerce at a record 17.1% of retail. For app vendors it is the clearest view of merchant attention moving from Shopify to marketplaces. That is usually where multichannel demand comes from.
Watch for. Focused on marketplaces, not Shopify. Shopify appears where it meets Amazon or TikTok, not as a subject of its own. Figures are Marketplace Pulse estimates from their own tracking, not disclosed numbers. They say this clearly, but the precise figures can look official. Sells data products and advertising alongside the free articles.
